Where is Aerospace Bristol?

Option 1: Fly

The nearest airports to Aerospace Bristol are:

  • Bristol Airport
  • Birmingham Airport
  • Heathrow Airport
  • Gatwick Airport

From Bristol (BRS) Airport
Rental Car / Taxi: Take the A38 north directly through Bristol, or use the A370 and M5 North (exit Junction 16 or 17). The
drive takes roughly 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic.


From Birmingham Airport (BHX)
By Train: Take the free “Air-Rail Link” monorail from the terminal to Birmingham International station. Board a
direct CrossCountry Trains service to Bristol Parkway (approximately 1 hour 20 minutes).
Rental Car: Drive south on the M5 directly from Birmingham. Exit at Junction 16, follow the A38 south towards
Filton, and follow the brown museum signs onto Hayes Way.


From London Heathrow Airport (LHR)
By Train: Board the Elizabeth Line or the Heathrow Express to London Paddington. Switch to a Great Western
Railway (GWR) train heading straight to Bristol Parkway (the nearest major rail hub to the museum).
The train ride takes about 1 hour 15 minutes from Paddington.



From London Gatwick Airport (LGW)
By Train: Take a direct Great Western Railway train from Gatwick Airport station to Reading. At Reading, cross
the platform to board a high-speed train to Bristol Parkway. Total journey time is roughly 2.5 to 3
hours.


Option 2: Eurostar

Via Eurostar (Foot Passenger)
This is the fastest and most sustainable option from Europe.

Step 1: Arrive at London St Pancras International

Route: Board the Eurostar from your departure station in Europe. All cross-channel passenger
trains terminate at London St Pancras International.

Travel Time: Paris to London takes about 2 hours 15 minutes; Brussels takes roughly 2 hours.

Step 2: Transfer to London Paddington Station

You must cross London to reach the train line serving the West of England.

By Underground (Tube): Follow the signs at St Pancras to the Underground station. Take the
westbound Circle Line or Hammersmith & City Line directly to London Paddington.

Travel Time: The Tube journey takes about 15 minutes.

Step 3: Train from London Paddington to Bristol Parkway

Route: Board a high-speed Great Western Railway (GWR) train bound for Bristol Parkway.
Note: Ensure you book to Bristol Parkway, not Bristol Temple Meads, as Parkway is much closer
to the museum.

Travel Time: Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.

Step 4: Final Leg to Aerospace Bristol

By Taxi: A taxi or rideshare from Bristol Parkway to the museum takes about 5 to 10 minutes.


Option 3: Le Shuttle

Via Le Shuttle (drive)

If you prefer to bring your own vehicle from Europe, you will use Le Shuttle service running from
Calais, France to Folkestone, UK.

Step 1: Cross the Channel

Crossing Time: The crossing to Folkestone takes 35 minutes. Remember that driving switches
to the left side of the road immediately upon exiting the UK terminal!

Step 2: Drive from Folkestone to Bristol
The driving route is almost entirely on major motorways:

  1. From Folkestone, take the M20 motorway heading west toward London.
  2. Join the M25 (London Orbital motorway) heading northbound/westbound towards Heathrow.
  3. Exit the M25 at Junction 15 to join the M4 motorway heading west toward Wales/Bristol.
  4. Leave the M4 at Junction 19 (M32/Bristol) or Junction 20 (Almondsbury Interchange/M5).
    Follow the signs for the A38 / Filton.
  5. As you near Filton, follow the brown tourism signs for Aerospace Bristol onto Hayes Way.

Driving Time: Approximately 3 to 3.5 hours from Folkestone, depending on London motorway
traffic.


Option 4: Drive

From M5 Junction 17

  • Exit the M5 at junction 17 and follow signs for The Mall
  • Pass The Mall on your left and continue in the direction of Filton
  • At the third roundabout, after passing the entrances to The Mall on your left, take the third
    exit towards Filton Bristol (A38) along Hayes Way
  • Go straight over the next two roundabouts
  • At the third roundabout, take the third exit so that you are returning in the direction you
    came. Aerospace Bristol is on your left, just after Lidl supermarket.


From M5 Junction 16

  • Exit the M5 at junction 16 and follow the A38 (Gloucester Road) in the direction of Filton
  • Go straight across the first roundabout (2nd exit) continuing along the A38 (Gloucester Road)
  • After approximately 1.5 miles, turn right onto Hayes Way by the Travelodge in the direction of
    Charlton Hayes and The Mall
  • At the roundabout, take the first exit and continue along Hayes Way. Aerospace Bristol is on
    your left, just after Lidl supermarket.

From Bristol city centre

  • Continue north along Gloucester Road until you reach the Filton roundabout
  • Go straight across heading along Gloucester Road North, passing Filton Airfield and the Royal
    Mail on your left
  • After the flyover, take the left junction before the Travelodge in the direction of The Mall, M5
    South and Charlton Hayes
  • At the roundabout, take the first exit and continue along Hayes Way. Aerospace Bristol is on
    your left, just after Lidl supermarket.

From South Wales

  • Cross over the River Severn taking either the Prince of Wales Bridge or the Severn Bridge and
    continue until the M4 and M48 merge into the M4, and then take the lane marked South West
    M5 towards Bristol
  • Continue along the slip road towards the M5 but remain in the left-hand lane
  • Exit the M5 at junction 16 and follow the A38 (Gloucester Road) in the direction of Filton
  • Go straight across the first roundabout (2nd exit) continuing along the A38 (Gloucester Road)
  • After approximately 1.5 miles, turn right onto Hayes Way by the Travelodge in the direction of
    Charlton Hayes and The Mall
